bail plea of asaram decision reserves in court
Jodhpur : The bail hearing in the case against Asaram Bapu got over on Wednesday and the Jodhpur court is likely to give its decision on whether the 72-year-old godman will get bail or not by today evening. A 16-year-old girl has accused the self-styled godman of sexually assaulting her.
During the hearing on Wednesday, the lawyer for the victim, Anand Purohit, also alleged that Asaram had been threatening the Jodhpur DCP with dire consequences. The lawyer further said that he too was likely to get such threats from the followers of Asaram Bapu. He further said that Asaram is an influential person and that he could influence the victim’s family.
Purohit further argued that if Asaram got bail, he would threaten the victim’s family and other witnesses. Responding to these Purohit’s argument, Asaram’s counsel KK Menon again reiterated that at the time of the incident, the girl was not a minor.
