Tamil blockbuster 'Thani Oruvan' being remade in Bengali

Chennai : Tamil blockbuster of last year, 'Thani Oruvan' is reportedly being remade in Bengali and actors Jeet and Prosenjit Chatterjee are teaming up for yet-untitled remake. The actors are joining hands for the remake, which will be officially announced soon.

According the reports, industry source said that, "The project is most likely to go on the floors later this year or early next year."

The Tamil blockbuster directed by Mohan Raja, Thani Oruvan featured his brother Jayam Ravi as the lead, while actor Arvind Swami was seen as a suave and conniving antagonist.

"In the remake, Jeet will essay Ravi’s part and Prosenjit will be seen playing the  antagonist. The project is most likely to be bankrolled by Shree Venkatesh Films. The makers haven’t finalised the director yet," the source added. 

Thani Oruvan is currently being remade in Telugu as Dhruva, and it stars Ram Charan in the titular role.

Director Mohan Raja hopes to make the sequel to last year’s Tamil blockbuster "Thani Oruvan” as his brother Jayam Ravi’s 25th film. During a chat with fans on Twitter earlier, Raja revealed that he hopes to make, “Thani Oruvan 2” with his brother. When a fan asked him, “can we expect a sequel to ‘Thani Oruvan’,” Raja said: “Sure. Ravi’s 25th film, hopefully".
