Actress Meghna Patel Joins NCP, who supported Narendra Modi

Mumbai : After supporting Narendra Modi during 2014 Lok Sabha campaign, Bollywood Actress Meghna Patel, who is an actress who has worked in several films including south Indian movies, has joined Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Sunday.

NCP leader and former civil aviation minister, Praful Patel welcomed her to the party Meghna, who was born in Gujarat, was seen supporting Modi in 2014 elections Meghna Patel is expected to contest assembly polls from NCP ticket in Vadodara.

Meghan Patel on becoming a part of the political party, she said," Politics is the new phase of my life. I’ve been watching the news for a while, and NCP has impressed me a lot. That’s how I got interested in joining politics and serving my country. Not many know that I have always there for many social causes".

Patel slammed the BJP government in Gujarat for mishandling the Patidar agitation and the Dalit assault in Una. "The Dalit assault was not handled properly and it is said that it took Gujarat chief minister Anandiben Patel nine days to visit Una village to meet the victims. There is a complete breakdown of law and order in the state," Patel said.

Jayant Patel, Gujarat NCP chief said, "She had campaigned for Modi earlier but there is nothing wrong with her joining NCP. At times, people from different political parties join rival parties. It is not new." Coming out in support of Patidar reservation activists, Patel said that anyone who talks about his or her rights cannot be called a 'Deshdrohi'.
