Around 50,000 farmers are likely to attend the 'GRAM'

Jaipur : Domestic roadshows pan-India will be organized for the forthcoming ‘Global Rajasthan Agritech Meet 2016’ (GRAM) from 25 July. The Chief Secretary, O P Meena, took a review meeting of the preparations of the domestic roadshows. GRAm is being jointly organized by the Government of Rajasthan and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). Around 50,000 farmers are likely to attend the event.

During the meeting, FICCI gave an elaborate presentation to the Chief Secretary highlighting the objectives of GRAM and the roadshows. He was informed that the objective of the roadshows is to attract investor participation in the mega event scheduled to be held in Jaipur from 9 to 11 November. He was also informed that as many as 50,000 farmers will attend GRAM. The event will also expose the farming communities to the technological advancements and global best-practices in farming & allied activities.

On the occasion, the Chief Secretary gave directions to shortlist the name of partner countries. With GRAM only a few months away, he asked the officers to complete the preparations in a given time frame to facilitate smooth functioning of the event.

Principal Secretary, Agriculture, Ms. Neel Kamal Darbari said that the objective of the roadshow is to showcase investment opportunities in Rajasthan and position the State as a preferred investment destination for agriculture. In addition to this, the roadshows will also inform the stakeholders about new regulations, grants and policies of the State in agriculture and allied sectors.

She further said that an earnest attempt will be made during the event to make the farm sector to move up the value chain, attract Agri businesses, processing, packaging industries in the Agri and allied sectors.

The roadshows, which will be led by senior ministers of the State Government, will be held in Mumbai (25 July), Ahmedabad (27 July), Kolkata (29 July), Hyderabad (1 August), Indore (3 August), Delhi (5 August), Bengaluru (8 August) and Chennai (10 August). Senior IAS officers will be the coordinators for the roadshows.

Also present during the occasion were Principal Secretary, Urban Development and Housing, Mukesh Sharma; Principal Secretary, Public Health Engineering and Ground Water Department, J C Mohanty; Secretary, Women and Child Development, Kuldeep Ranka; Secretary, Animal Husbandary, Fisheries & Gopalan Department, Kunji Lal Meena; Director, Agriculture, Ambrish Kumar and Director, Horticulture, Vijay Pal Singh, Senior Director, FICCI, Balwinder Singh Sawhney and Head, Rajasthan State Council, FICCI, Atul Sharma, among others.
