Startup Fest to organize in Udaipur on Saturday
The Centre of Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE) of IIM Ahmedabad will be the Knowledge Partner. To be held at the Chamber Bhawan of Udaipur Chamber of Commerce & Industry (UCCI), the Fest will have founders, mentors and investors joining hands to support entrepreneurship in the city.
The Principal Secretary, Industries and Managing Director RIICO, Veenu Gupta said that this national level Startup event will provide a platform for the vibrant start up ecosystem. It will bring together on a single platform more than 100 startups, 15 angel and venture capital investors, 30 mentors and startup coaches as well as 20 speakers.
The Principal Secretary further said that Rajasthan is the first State in the country to have launched Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) for Startups. These SPVs will act as a subsidiary for RIICO and will help startups in funding, simplification of process and will act as a one point contact for all the procedures.
Udaipur Startup Fest has been organised on the lines of Rajasthan Startup Fest launched by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Rajasthan Vasundhara Raje last year in Jaipur.
As per the Startup Policy launched last year, apart from the Rajasthan Startup Fest there were also to be two mini Startup Fests to be organised in the State. The Udaipur Fest is one of the two mini Fests.
The event will include pitches by new startups batch of Startup Oasis, sessions and panel discussions on ‘Startup funding trends’, ‘Growing Startup Ecosystem in Udaipur’, ‘Social Innovation’, ‘Social Entrepreneurship’ among others.
The event will also see the final pitches for funding of the ‘Tech4Raj Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program of Startup Oasis’. Tech4Raj is the annual Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship programmeorganised by Startup Oasis which was launched on 6 January this year.
The program saw students and social startups apply for prize money of upto Rs 100,000 and incubation support from Startup Oasis and financial support from the Rajasthan Government under the Rajasthan Startup Policy.
The top 10 teams will be shortlisted and then taken through a mentoring program, in collaboration with TiE Udaipur on 5 February in the Bootcamp. The winners will be announced during the Valedictory Session of the event.
