Rajasthan set to get the first new MSME Technology center in India

Bhiwadi : In a groundbreaking ceremony here today, the Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Kalraj Mishra and the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Vasundhara Raje laid the foundation stone of an MSME Technology Centre at the Pathredi Industrial Area. This Technology Centre is set to be the first of the 15 such new Technology Centres being set up in the country.

The proposed Technology Centre is being set up under the Technology Centre Systems Programme (TCSP) of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India. The total capital expenditure for the project is estimated at Rs. 200 crore.

This centre will be a general engineering Technology Centre with a focus on the Auto sector. Bhiwadi and the region around it host several global auto giants like Honda cars, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter, Hero MotoCorp, Ashok Leyland, TAFE and their numerous ancillary units and also several other notable Tier 1 & Tier 2 players.

Addressing the gathering, Kalraj Mishra stated, “During the MSME conclave in the Resurgent Rajasthan Partnership Summit last November, the Chief Minister had requested for incubation centres in all the districts of the State. I am happy to announce that the Union MSME Ministry has already started work to provide incubation centres in the 33 districts of Rajasthan. We have also developed 70 industrial clusters under 14 different projects in Rajasthan.”

Further, appreciating the State Government’s effort in creating an industrial friendly environment, he said, “The Rajasthan Government is continuously working with the Central Government in improving the ease of doing business. I am sure that this Technology Centre will play a vital role in the industrial development of the State – it will prove to be a milestone in the Centre’s of Make in India and Skill India initiatives.”

Rajasthan Chief Minister Raje recalled her tenure as MSME Minister at the Centre and stated, “I realized as MSME Minister that the MSME sector is at the core of Industry. Which is why we are focused on this sector in Rajasthan, where already the bulk of the industry is MSME. We believe in nurturing industry to graduate from micro to small to medium and to even large enterprises. ”

Once completed, the Technology Centre will provide much-needed tool room facilities for MSME units in the State. In addition to providing critical tooling solutions for MSME enterprises, the Technology Centre will provide professional training in various courses with a focus on auto and general engineering.

These will include courses on Tool Making & Metal Cutting, maintenance, Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Manufacturing, Computer Aided Design (CAD) / Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM), Advance Welding and Industrial Process Automation. Its intake capacity is expected to reach 7900 trainees per year in a period of 5 years.

The Technology Centre will also assist MSMEs in the field of tool design, manufacturing, quality / productivity improvement and innovation, besides providing consultancy / advisory support to MSMEs and incubation support to trainees for their start-up ventures.

The Technology Centre will host a Technology Partner and a Cluster Network Manager to provide technology support and market linkage facilitation.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Rajasthan Minister for Industries, Gajendra Singh, “Rajasthan launched the MSME Policy 2015 with the intention of creating an enabling environment for MSME units to be globally competitive. Several other policy measures have been put in place including the strengthening of the State MSME Facilitation Council; development of MSME Clusters with the objective of creating production centres; and support for start-up businesses and budding entrepreneurs with the setting up of plug-and-play facilities, flatted factories and rapid incubation centres.”
