Mumbai : The Bollywood's 'Mr. Khiladi' Akshay Kumar, who has recently seen as Ranjit Katyal in Raja Krishna Menon's film 'Airlift', now will be next seen romancing with Alia Bhatt in director Sriram Raghavan's next film.

The 48-year-old Actor and 22-year-old actress has been roped in for the thriller film 'Badlapur'. While, director Sriram Raghavan is collaborating with script-writer-turned-author Sheeja Jose. The film will be based on the Jose’s best-selling book 'Gone With The Bullet'.

10 years ago, author Sheeja Jose had met filmmaker Sriram Raghavan soon after the release of his second directorial, 'Johnny Gaddaar' in 2007. The two had discussed a project but then both got busy with their respective works.

Now, after a decade, the two teamed up for a thriller based on Sheeja's second bestseller, 'Gone With The Bullet'. Sriram, who has read Sheeja's debut book, 'Goodbye Girl,' describes her as a "welcome voice in Indian crime fiction" and is keen to convert the novel into a full length feature film.

The novel was originally a film script, which Sujoy Ghosh had planned to bring on screen. It did not work out then and Sheeja turned the script into a book."It took me two years to complete and when things didn't fall in place with Sujoy, I turned the script into a book. The story follows an 18-year-old girl who falls in love with a 40-something assassin," she informs.

When prodded about the casting, Sheeja told a leading daily, "I think Sriram will agree that Akshay Kumar would be perfect as the brooding dark assassin and Alia Bhatt as the new-age girl in love. It's a hatke romance against the backdrop of bullets."
