Rain havoc in Mumbai : 6,000 homes in the dark for 3rd day

Mumbai : The rain havoc is still being continue in Mumbai which affected to many people of the city as near about 6,000 households continued to be affected by a power failure for the third day, with supply likely to be restored only by this evening in the island city.

More than 16,000 households were without electricity for two days following Friday’s downpour. Power supply was restored at 10,000 homes till Sunday morning.

Irate residents took out a morcha to the BEST electricity division in Dadar to protest on Sunday afternoon. They complained that some parts of the city were without electricity for 24 to 38 hours.

An education activist Jayant Jain from Dadar said that, "My 80-years-old parents were living in the home without electricity from last two nights and the lights finally came back after 38 hours, but there were power fluctuations. Supply was restored totally in 45 hours."

A resident of Maganlal Dayabhai building, close to the railway station, said that at least 40 others were badly affected. Supply was restored at 11.30 am on Sunday. For some residents of Opera House, power was restored partially on Saturday afternoon, before it went off again.

BEST general manager Jagdish Patil, who met angry residents on Sunday, assured them that his trams will try to restore supply at all places by Monday evening, if the weather permits.
