Pakistan violates ceasefire, Pakistani rangers, violates ceasefire, BSF, Border Security Force, Jammu, R S pura sector Jammu
Srinagar : Pakistani Rangers on early morning Monday violated the ceasefire twice by firing on border out posts along the International Border in R S Pura sector of Jammu district, prompting India’s Border Security Force (BSF) to retaliate.

Pointing out that the Rangers targeted two border outposts apparently in a bid to push in terrorists to the Indian side, sources said that BSF also retaliated. The firing stopped after sometime.

The Rangers fired on two separate BOPs along the IB in R S Pura at 0100 hours and 0300 hours, a senior BSF officer said. BSF troops guarding the borderline retaliated resulting in intermittent exchanges which continued till 0700 hours, he said, adding that there was no loss of life or injury to anyone in the firing.

These incidents of firing have come amidst reports about a large number of terrorists having assembled at launching pads waiting for an opportunity to cross over to the Indian side.

The firing comes after BSF foiled an infiltration bid in the area on Tuesday. On 13 January, there was firing by Pakistani rangers in Samba sector.
