Advani and Smriti Irani participated in yoga camps in Himachal

Shimla : Veteran BJP leader Lal Krishan Advani and Union Minister Smriti Irani participated in yoga camps held in Himachal Pradesh on Sunday. Over 1,000 people, comprising government and retired employees, students and some tourists, participated in a yoga camp organized in this Himachal Pradesh town on a pleasant cloudy morning of Sunday, officials said.

Union Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani participated in Shimla. Smriti Irani on Sunday extended warm greetings "I think it is a proud day for every Indian that the effort of Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) has been made an International Day...I extend my warm greetings to all the people worldwide on the occasion...," Irani told reporters.

On the other hand, Veteran BJP leader Lal Krishan Advani attended the yoga camp at Palampur town in Kangra District, the home town of Lok Sabha member Shanta Kumar, despite intermittent rain showers."What a relaxing morning," remarked Pankaj Sinha, a tourist from Delhi who is holidaying in Shimla with his family.

The state had announced to celebrate the International Yoga Day by involving schools, colleges, universities, public, yoga institutions, police personnel, NCC cadets in uniform, National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers and Nehru Yuva Kendras.Over 300 army personnel and their families participated in yoga exercises at Annandale, the picturesque ground in Shimla surrounded by thick forests.

BJP leader and two-time former chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal participated in a yoga camp held in his home constituency Hamirpur town. An estimated 40,000 people participated in the celebrations in the national capital, with around two billion people taking part across the world.

The yoga celebrations are being organised after the United Nations had in December last year declared June 21 as International Yoga Day. The proposal was mentioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his address to the UN General Assembly last year
