Mumbai : 'Main Hoon Part-Time' Killer is not the regular leave-your-brains-behind comedy which we have witnessed many times. But this is a leave-your-logic-behind spoof that is funny in it's own way. What is a Spoof?
A film or an act which mocks a famous personality in funnier way is called a Spoof! Usually, Hollywood churns out Spoof films and Main Hoon Part-Time Killer a.k.a 'Main Hoon Rajinikanth' can be touted as India's first ever attempted full fledged Spoof.
Main Hoon Part-Time Killer was previously known as Main Hoon Rajinikanth and is the same film for which superstar Rajinikanth went to the court to stop it's release, God knows why?. Rajinikanth thought this one might defame his Fan base, But unfortunately, the film does not speak anything offensive about the superstar.
The story is of a man called Rajinikanth (Adithya Menon) who is a Cop-cum-Contract Killer who is funny and wicked. He has been assigned with a job of getting 5 Crores rupees from another corrupt cop Naidu (Shabir Ali) and giving the money back to Mr.Bachchan (Shakti Kapoor) who is another funny and wicked gangster.
Rajinikanth has been ordered to kill Naidu in this process. In this mission, He meets a sex-worker Mallika (Kavita Radheshyam) and learns she is trying to escape with that 5 Crores.
South Indian actor Adithya Menon is mind blowing as Rajinikanth. He has given a performance that will surely take him to places in Bollywood. Another charm of the movie is Shakti Kapoor with his charming and fantastic comic-timing. Kavita Radheshyam is also very good as Mallika. Smita Gondkar, Sunil Pal, Reema Lagoo all are good in their roles.
The film is being written and directed by Faisal Saif who has made films like Jigyaasa (2006) and 5 Ghantey Mien 5 Crore (2012), But Main Hoon (Part-Time) Killer will be considered as his best work till date. It is said the film was made in a very small budget of 80 Lakhs. The plus points of the film is some wonderful performances by all the 3 lead actors (Adithya Menon, Kavita Radheshyam, Shakti Kapoor) which keeps you hooked till the end.
However, The film has abrupt climax which will be hard to digest.
The camera work, editing and production values are good according to a small budget film. The music of the film is also good but suffers as it does not see any promotions.
Main Hoon Part-Time Killer is touted as the most controversial film of the year. This film is not a typical David Dhawan inspired comedy, But it's a Spoof that will make you laugh.
