Himachal Pradesh the first State in country to start ABPS

Shimla : Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister of state Anil Sharma, said here today that Himachal Pradesh was the first State in the country to start Aadhar Based Payment System (ABPS) since 2nd October, 2014 and all payments of wages and material was being done through this system. 

He said that payment of Rs. 76.53 crore had been made through this till date. He said that the workers and vendors whose bank accounts were Aadhar linked were being paid through ABPS and the wages and cost of material was being directly transferred to their latest Aadhar linked bank accounts. 

He said that so far, Aadhar numbers of 7.23 lakh active MNREGA workers had been seeded in the MNREGA out of which 5.54 lakh workers accounts had been linked with the banks.
 

Sharma said that road side plantation plan for roads constructed under PMGSY had been prepared during the current financial year under this plan. He said that approximately one lakh plants of different varieties such as mulberry, Jamun, Saru, Shisham, Eucalyptus, Peepal, Cedrus, Neem etc. by the Public Works Department.

The Minister said that Central Government had approved labour budget for generating 258.29 lakh mandays  for the current financial year. He said that during the last financial year the Central Government imposed a cut in the labour budget which resulted liabilities amounting to Rs. 87 crore to the State Government. 


He said that the Central Government had released Rs. 119.20 crore whereas State had also released its share of Rs. 12.42 crore during current financial year.
