Next hearing in Salman Khan's Hit and Run case on April 6

Mumbai : The hearing of Salman Khan's controversial 2002 hit-and-run case is now going to take place on April 6. Salman Khan has been asked to be present in court during the session. In the previous hearing that took place on 27 March, the actor had stated that he was not driving during the ill fated accident.

He also denied being under the influence of alcohol on the night. Earlier, Khan's driver Ashok Singh took responsibility stating that he was driving the car. He added that he lost control of the car because the tyre of the white Toyota Land Cruiser burst.

The actor's car had rammed into the American Express Bakery in suburban Bandra, close to his sea-front home in Galaxy Apartments, killing one person the pavement and injuring four others on September 28, 2002. The actor was arrested the by the Bandra police the next morning.

The actor is facing charges of IPC Sec. 304(II) - which attracts a 10-year jail sentence, Sec. 279, Sec. 337, Sec. 338, Sec. 427, and under Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and Bombay Prohibition Act, 1949.

In the early hours of September 28, 2002, Khan's vehicle had hit the American Express Bakery in suburban Bandra, close to his sea-front home in Galaxy Apartments and killed one. Khan was arrested by Bandra Police later that morning in connection with the accident that also injured four people.
