Melbourne : The opening batsman of Indian cricket team Virat Kohli gets dismissed for 46 by South Africa’s Imran Tahir, but Shikhar Dhawan  manages to establish solid stronghold on the game here. Shikhar Dhawan, determined not to let the momentum fizzle, slams hundred off 122 balls and puts India on course for big total and the total score of India is 214 run for 2 wicket after 39 over.

Shikhar Dhawan hit a composed half-century and steadied the Indian innings with Virat Kohli after Rohit Sharma was run out for zero in the 3rd over against South Africa at the MCG.

Dhawan, hit a series of pleasing boundaries early on - off South African spearhead Dale Steyn and new ball partner Vernon Philander.

By the 10th over Dhawan, under scrutiny for his poor run of scores leading up to the World Cup, hit five boundaries. He silenced his critics in the first match against Pakistan, scoring 73.

Kohli came in at his favoured number 3 position.
