Ahead of Delhi polls, Prices of Petrol Rs. 2.42 and Diesel Rs. 2.25 cheaper
New Delhi : Oil marketing companies Tuesday decided to reduce petrol-diesel prices and Petrol and diesel prices were on Tuesday slashed by Rs 2.42 per litre, Rs 2.25 per ltr.
Petrol in Delhi will cost Rs 56.49 a litre from midnight tonight as compared to Rs 58.91 now. Similarly, diesel will cost Rs 46.01 per litre as against Rs 48.26 at present.
This is the 10th straight reduction in petrol price since August and sixth in diesel since October and third time since the beginning of 2015, that the prices of both the transportation fuels have been reduced. On Jan 16, the three state-run OMCs had cut petrol price by Rs.2.42 a litre and that of diesel by Rs.2.25 per litre.
According to Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), the latest revision was done keeping in account the deceleration of prices globally and the appreciation in rupee-dollar exchange rate.
"Since that price revision, international prices of both petrol and diesel have continued to be on a downtrend and the rupee-US dollar exchange rate has appreciated. The combined impact of both these factors warrant a decrease in retail selling prices of both petrol and diesel," IOC said.
